Hi!

I am really excited to tell you my Starlike Quilt has been accepted to be in QuiltCon 2021.

For those who don’t know QiltCon, it’s the largest modern quilting show of its kind. Each year, thousands of people visit QuiltCon to see over nearly 600 modern quilts on display, including 400 juried in from MQG members around the world. It’s a five day event that includes live lectures, panels, and tours, as well as on-demand workshops and many opportunities for socialization.

This year, it has to be celebrated in Atlanta, Georgia (USA) but because of the Covid and the high health risk of joining people from over the world The Modern Quilt Guild has decided that this year QuiltCon will be celebrated online. QuiltCon Together.

So, it will take place February 18-22, 2021. And any person from over the world will have the possibility of visiting the show from their homes. You can’t miss it!

I had never sent a quilt to a quilting show, but this year, with my first quilt pattern published last September at Make Modern Magazine, the Starlike Quilt Pattern, was the perfect opportunity to explore this unknown world for me. Just the last day to submit quilts to the show, November 30, I was talking with a quilting friend and he commented that this was the last day… Ohh my! I started looking for the photos I made for the magazine and just the last hours I sent the submission…. it was a challenge to choose the right ones and write the description, but finally I managed to make the submission.

And what a surprise to me when on December 19 I received an email from the Modern Quilt Guild with “Congratulations” as an introduction. I couldn’t believe it, my first quilt accepted in an international competition and it will be exhibited alongside the works of the best designers from around the world. A dream come true!

If you don’t know my Starlike Quilt I invite you to read the blog post I wrote about the process of designing and sewing this quilt during the pandemic quarantine where you can also  see the gorgeous quilts made by my testers.

I am planning to release the pattern first 2021. It will include two ways to sew this design, the templates technique and the foundation paper piecing for those who don’t like sewing with templates. And the instructions to make it in 5 different sizes. This design allows a lot of customization, since changing the colors and numbers of the pieces.

I want to release this pattern with a big project I am working on right now, that will help you to color the pattern very easily and in so many ways. I am setting up an app to color patterns with your mobile, QuiltInk and you can follow me at the instagram account I’ve created for it. I hope it will be a big tool for the quilting world as it will allow you to color patterns from any technique. So there will soon be a big party with the two launches together.

I am planning some special events for my subscribers community. If you don’t want to miss anything subscribe to my newsletter and you will also receive 3 free block patterns.

And don’t miss to visit the QuiltCon Together 2021, this year is easy than ever to be watching the greatest modern quilt over the world!

Stay tuned that soon I will have big news!

Good stitching to you all!
